The VTCT Level 2 Award in Photographic MakeUp and Dressing Hair is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of dressing hair and the imaginative application of photographic make-up. The units of study are :
- Photographic Makeup - Period, Bridal and Fantasy
- Dressing Hair
You will learn about make-up for different facial features, skin types, eye and lip shapes, different facial characteristics, glasses and contact lens wearers as well as lighting and other photographic make-up factors. You will also learn a variety of artistic techniques which will allow you to create a range of hairdressing and makeup designs using professional products and tools.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in makeup and hairdressing, to provide you with the foundation for further learning, and to enable you to perform your own salon service
This course is completed over 4 days. The majority of this time will be spent gaining and learning practical techniques to carry out the treatments in salon working on real clients.
There is also a theory content to ensure that you have the underpinning essential knowledge for each unit. Home study is required to ensure that you meet the necessary criteria through our Online Classroom OlivElearn.
This Course is fully accredited by VTCT - Vocational Training Charitable Trust, is a Government-approved awarding organisation.
Requirements: You will need to attend a Salon Tunic and Trousers. You will also need makeup brushes for this course.

Photographic Makeup & Dressing Hair L2 Award VTCT
This course is ideal for those wishing to take their makeup and hairdressing skills a little further and prepare themselves to work with photographers in a studio setting. This is also an ideal course if you are looking to entering into the bridal sector. It is especially ideal for pre-16s students and adults who wish to pursue a career as a makeup artist and build their confidence in application techniques for both makeup and hair.
Throughout the course you will be assessed by a combination of short assignments, tests and practical assessments of your work; and will compile a portfolio of evidence.
You will need a set of makeup brushes - please discuss this with Olive Training at the time of booking. Brushes are available for purchase.
No specific makeup or hair kit is required for this course however we do recommend that you purchase one to allow you to practise at home - your tutor will discuss this with you at the start of your course.
