Witch Hazel

When we saw this little tree in the garden centre we thought it was a bit different - Witch Hazel (Hamamelis).

We thought this strange little tree was a beautiful addition to the Olive Training's garden as we would be able to show learners this fantastic healing plant.

Witch hazel is widely used in facial training as the water is used as an astringent to tighten the skin and close the pores. When applied directly to the skin it helps reduce swelling, will help fight bacteria and start the healing process.

The water is produced using the distillation process by combining dried leaves, bark and twigs of the plant. It can be added to clay masks to remove excess oils, prevent further breakouts and cool the skin. At Olive Training we use it in many treatments especially in holistic facials and along with other hydrosols in aromatherapy.

We love our little tree and it often makes an appearance in our lessons. It shows off its lovely yellow flowers in the winter and quite frankly has amazed some of our learners, and they have a chance to see where the product they are using on client's skin originates from.
