The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a qualification for those interested in a teaching career in further education or for those who have recently started teaching. This Award will allow the learner to enter into teaching employment and progress on to a broader teacher qualification.
This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. They will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in microteaching sessions. Evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content. This qualification provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for both experienced practitioners who would like to secure a professionally recognised qualification as well as those new to teaching.
Learners can progress from the VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training directly into a teaching or facilitating role in the further education sector.
This qualification has been mapped to the relevant Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) NOS, and is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
The course consists of these units:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
You then choose one unit from Option A
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Facilitate learning and development for individuals
- Facilitate learning and development in groups
And then one unit from Option B
- Understanding assessment in education and training
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Length: 3 months dependent on abilities, prior knowledge and skills
This course can be run to suit the learner - it can be Face to Face or Online or can be blended delivery. Observation of teaching will be required so the learner must have access to students or workshop where they can deliver a teaching session/s.

L3, L4 & L5 Education & Training Award VTCT (Ofqual)
This course is ideal for those wishing to eneter in to the adult teaching sector. You should have good specialist knowledge in the area that you wish to teach. Please note ideally you must have access to learners/ teaching sessions however in some instances Olive Training may be able to support your studies by giving you assessment opportunites (t&cs may apply)
Throughout the course you will be assessed by a combination of short assignments, tests and practical observation assessments of your work; and will compile a portfolio of evidence.
You tutor will discuss any requirements prior to the start of the course.
